What happens in Vegas… with a family

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”
— St. Augustine

Travelling with your family is one of the greatest things I think you can do. The joys you all get to share along the way and the smiles from young ones over the smallest things such as the view out of the plane window or laughing as mum is always the one that gets security screened. Travelling with your family is priceless. Unfortunately as a kid I never got to do any travelling other then the occasional camping trip to an isolated island with a drop toilet and wild pigs everywhere .. but over the past few years I’ve been fortunate enough to tag on to a family as they explore hidden gems of this world, it’s kinda cool I feel a bit like their adopted child. I could never repay them for the memories they’ve allowed my mind to have and the photos they’ve allowed my camera to capture.

We just recently came home from a trip to the one and only Las Vegas, well vegas might be known as casino capital of the world and adventure playground for 21+ year olds, I can guarantee you there is something to suit everyone’s ideal moment of fun! The family I went with were aged from 9-40+ myself being 21! From shopping to theme parks even road trips, you will find somewhere to explore in Vegas that’ll make you overjoyed to be there.

  • We stayed at the  bellagio hotel.  If you’re in Vegas you MUST check it out! I’ve never seen a resort quite so big in my life! The architecture is exquisite! Check out the all you can eat buffet too! Mudcake for breakfast? Yes please!
  • road trip to the Grand Canyon, there’s hire car places located all over the Main Street! We hired one for the day and took a road trip out to the Grand Canyon stopping at Hoover dam on the way! We never expected it to be cold out there being the dessert.. so all us typical Australians were in flip flops and singlets.. turns out it was a minus 4 degree day out there! With a bucket load of rain and snow on the way! Needless to say we checked the weather every day after that depending on where we going and what we were doing! Always be prepared and take a jacket! The Grand Canyon though is nothing short of breathtaking. It’s a place I have a strong desire to return too on a better weather day and seeing it from a different point of view, as the skywalk was closed on that day due to bad weather!

  • New York, New York – this is essentially a hotel with a yep you guessed it.. Roller coaster on top and through the building! It’s scary that’s for sure! And if you are not feeling quite so brave there is a whole floor of fun and exciting arcade games to play and try to win some pretty awesome prizes!7F7DD204-B0C0-447F-BC48-996DBF35255A.jpg
  • Downtown Vegas – entertainment galore.. once again! Plenty of shopping and eating to be done here! I actually in fact tasted my first ever dunkin donuts here! Was everything I’d expected it to be like!

Only in America.. – seriously so good!
  • Another great way to spend your time at down town Vegas otherwise known as Fremont St is ziplining above the mall and racing your family members! This was actually so so much fun and a little bit scary but absolutely worth it! Book early though as we just rocked up expecting to do it but had to infact wait a few hours! So we booked it then just went and did a bit of shopping! It’s not to pricy and they harness you up and attach your valuables to you as you zoom across the line!

  • Stratosphere hotel is at the end of the main st in Vegas! It’s home to some the highest roller coasters and thrill rides! There’s even a roller coaster that rolls of the building giving the illusion that it’s going to slide completely off! You can even do a sky jump off the hotel it’s self! It stands at 824 feet high! Be brave! This is one thing I wanted to do so badly but it was unfortunately booked out for the day!
  • Outlet shopping! The outlets in Las Vegas are fantastic! And with a wide variety of shops you’ll certainly find something for everyone to spend their hard saved pennies on!
  • If you come to Vegas you MUST go see a cirque de Soleil show! I seen “O” and it was by far the most mind blowing incredible performance! Those acrobatic artists are captivating! So much respect for the way they must train to perform the way they do! Most high end resorts/hotels will have a performance! Ours was at our hotel the Bellagio! Would recommend it to anyone!

I think Las Vegas is very under estimated as a family holiday location! Although some of the attractions are exactly what kids want to spend time doing.. and adults too! I had so much fun in Vegas and can’t wait to go back again oneday and do it all over! There are obviously heaps of other fun things to do which I haven’t gone into great detail such as MNM WORLD! Dining places! And the interesting street characters!

If you get a chance to go to Vegas with your family be sure to check everything out and let me know how you enjoyed it!

Leave your thoughts below and I’ll get back to them all!

Safe travels, Jayde ✈️
